Irresponsible Human activities (hiker's bad manner) had given serious damage to the ecology of flora. The one and only precious flora is vanishing year by year. I know that you just want to enjoy the nature and free yourself in the spirit of the nature . But before entering to the Island, you need to be well prepared. Otherwise, you become a destroyer. Especially, carried-in alien species by trekkers are threatening the ecology of flora. Please be aware of that you might be an assailant against the nature, without intention.
The main actor & actress on the earth is the nature. The planet, earth is maintained and ruled by providence of the nature. We, human being have the wrong understanding such as human being control the environment. The only thing we can do is to rule not the nature but ourselves. We, human being have extremely huge power to destroy. Without intention, our behavior and we, ourselves become a drag against the nature. The resource of human lives is given by the nature. Please keep it mind that the nature rules human being.
Environmental problem is the world-wide problem, not only in Rebun Island. Development of the land is not the only human activity which harm nature. Each of your each small behavior in national park give enormous damage against the nature. Please consider, what harm what, how much. Not to harm the nature, the best thing we can do is not to go (=enter) there. Because human being is the alien among the nature.
Especially Naturalized Plant causing bad influence to native plants.
1. Wash & clean every belonging items before entering
the island.
2. Wash down the soil of the TIRE of your
vehicle (car, motorbike, bicycle etc). Clean up the vehicle itself
too.
3. Don't bring in wild animals and any species
of plants including seeds.
4. Don't pick flowers. Bringing out animals
and plants including seeds are prohibited.
5. Even the alien plants are not allowed
to pick.
6. Notes when you take photograph and sketching.
7. Keep on the track.
8. Don't step on the baby leaves.
9. When the trail is muddy & slippery
after the rain, quit hiking.
10. Don't leave any trash.
11. Prepare walkie-talkie toilet with you.
12. What to wear & bring.
1. Wash & clean every belonging items

The soil &
mud stuck to your shoes is the worst & serious cause of the
destruction of the nature.
Even if it's sightless, many species of alien (=naturalized plants)
seeds are mixed in the mud. If you hike around the island with
the soiled shoes, you drop the alien seed mixed soil little by
little, step by step. It's like sowing alien seeds. The alien
has terrible growing power and the growing speed is awfully fast.
In the last few years, some part of the flower field of Rebun's
native alpine plants had changed to alien's field. The government
started to hire people to pick the alien plants one by one. It's
not only shoes, but tent, backpack, everything you bring into
the land has to be cleaned up before you visit.
2. Wash down the soil of the TIRE of your vehicle (car, motorbike, bicycle etc). Clean up the vehicle itself too. It's the same reason to wash down your shoes.
3. Don't bring in wild animals and any species
of plants including seeds.
Bringing in & out animals and plants to & from National
Park is prohibited. You shouldn't do it not because it's regulated
by law, but it does harm the nature. If you're traveling with
your pet, give them shampoo and clean off the soil of the nail
and btwn fingers, collar, line. Nobody want Rebun to be alien's island. Don't do
anything which cause the change of the island's ecology.
4. Don't pick flowers. Bringing out animals
and plants including seeds are prohibited.
From National
Park, not only plants but
seeds, soil, sand, one leave etc, you can't take back anything. Fallen leaves are food for micro-organism,
then later they become compost. Bacteria which help plants grow
live in the soil. Nothing on the earth exists by itself. If one
spieces of insects, bacteria, micro-organism, plants extinct from
this island, the valance of the ecology goes mad then living creature
world will be destroyed. That's why, you can't bring back anything.
The species becoming extinct, rare spieces inherent in Rebun,
these plants are the target of plant-pickers.
They steal
plants & seeds to sell.
If you find these people in the flower field, please inform the police. Picking plants is the same as kidnapping.
Once they leave the homeland, plants can't lead their lives as
they are. And once the plants brought to other land, Rebun's wild
flowers are disfigured into alien, might damage your homeland.
You can't take seeds either. Plants make seeds to sustain spieces
for the future, sustain lives in Rebun not in your garden. Mother-flower
gives her life to her seeds then die. You might think that snatching
one or two seeds don't give damage 'cause plants make a lot of
seeds. You are wrong. Not every seed born from Mother-flower doesn't
exist. In average, only 2% of the seeds survive, all the other
die. What about human? You have to be pregnant for 50 times to
have one child. And to have grand-child, you need to have two
babies, boy & girl. You see? Lives in the nature are getting
through intense condition & environment. Buying flowers from
the wild flower shop is a crime, too. Plants or seeds, Plant-pickers
snatched (=stolen) from the wild nature are sold at the wild flower
shop. Buying these plants or seeds is the same as plant-picking.
There are million's of spieces of garden flowers in this world.
Wild flowers should be in the wild nature, don't you think so?
Because you feel like to meet & feel the real nature, you
go for wild nature, right?
5. Even the alien plants are not harrowed
to pick.
To tell the truth, if you help weeding alien plants, I would thank
you. But if you do it without permission, it's the same as plant-picking
(=stealing) against the law even if you're doing it by your well-meant
attempt. Some people might think they can pick wild flowers, watching
you pick.
6. Notes when you take photograph and sketching.
Any behavior giving damage to the ecology of flora is prohibited.
Not yourself but setting
the camera-tripod off the track
does harm the flora, too. Keep yourself and your belongings on
the track, please. Some evil minded people step into the flower
field to take pictures of flowers. The other follow the trace,
then the other. In a few days, the plants around there all lie
down on the ground completely flattened, had cut their head and
legs broken. Then at last, the surface becomes bold. And some
people sit
on the flowers to sketch the
scenery or to
have lunch, maybe not to be
in trekker's way. You should know thousands of lives are getting
ready to come out under your one step or bud. Each precious life
has been succeeded from time immemorial. A famous photographer
or a famous painter might cling to his one cut or one piece of
art and excuse themselves. But you can't feed the wild lives in
the nature with your money. Human being can't make real nature,
man-maid nature is man-maid article. It takes millions of years for the nature
to regain their way of living, to live by nature. If one life which you stepped on haven't killed
by you, she could warm thousands of people's heart, could make
thousands of people smile, could make thousands of people happy...and
the offspring, could make billions of people...
7. Keep on the track.
The trail is not wide enough for people to pass by. Hiking on
the track, when people coming from the other (=opposite) way,
you can see it from far away if you care for it. Originally, there
were no trail in the flower field. But to enjoy the flower field,
people constructed the trail. On construction, human being have
already killed thousand millions of natural lives in Rebun. Don't kill any more. I know your time in Rebun is limited,
so you might want to hurry to see all. While you trek in Rebun,
you are in
Nature-time, not in human-time.
Some heartless & thoughtless people pass people over to make
their way forward in a hurry , or knowing people coming from opposite
way, make the way till the very limit then step on the flower
field to pass by. Don't take wrong that giving way to people is
good thing. If you kill precious lives, it's nothing, it has a
reverse effect. To
pass by, find widened area
(=downtrodden place) at earlier time then wait
for people.
8. Don't step on the baby leaves.
The flora of Rebun is symbiosis. Which means that the alpine flowers
of all seasons bloom in the same place. At the end of April, the autumn flowers
are in leaves btwn spring
flowers. Yes, they've already started to get ready to bloom. Don't
kill them at the early stage. Keep on the track.
9. When the trail is muddy & slippery
after the rain, quit hiking.
The track is clayey soil. When wet after the rain, it's very slippery.
Many people have bad fall and get hurt themselves, fracture, sprain.
On muddy condition, you can hardly keep yourself stand still or
walk straight. Some heartless & thoughtless people force into
the flower field then step in & walk in the flower field,
to keep themselves from slipping. Some grab flowers
to make their way, in some cases, grabbed flowers had pulled out. All the flowers beside the trail flatted down in the mud, some area had changed into
bold place, it's too painful to look at. On
muddy & slippery condition, you hardly enjoy without composure
in mind. More to say, you don't get enough sight because of the
fog. So, you'd better change
your plan, choose the other hiking course. Keep it in your mind, this is territory of the
nature, not yours. Your
unreasonable behavior, lack of understanding lead the island's
precious lives to death.
10. Don't leave any trash.
This is basic rule, manner. I appreciate if you pick trashes which
some one left. Some people have the wrong understanding about
food trash. They leave peel of the fruit or the
left over of the lunch in the flower field. They think foods return
to dust. Actually, it takes more than 10 years for disintegration.
And it gives stress to the nature because those food don't exist
there originally. Take everything back you brought in.
11. Prepare walkie-talkie toilet with you.
People who plan to hike long course, better to prepare. You can
buy them from the out-door gear shop. Left excrement changes (=damages)
the ecology. For your information, though the number of walkie-talkie
toilet is limited, you can get them from tourist information center,
hotels, police, camp ground office in Rishiri Island. Please take
them with you when you trek Mt. Rishiri.
12. What to wear & bring.
The climate is the same as alpine belt. Gear up yourself with
the equipment to trek high mountain. Till the mid-summer, we have
foggy day frequently. Thick fog makes you wet. Rain wear is essential.
Please don't
use walking stick (=trekking pole).
It damages the trail. I recommend you to bring magnifying glass
& binocular.
* Set up a wash down facilities
at the ferry terminal.
* Control the number of trekker.
* Close the track in turn to regain the ecology of flora.
* Depending on the trail condition, close the track.
* Prohibit to access by the car to prevent waste gas pollution
against the flora.
* Provide with an electric car (=bus) .
Not to damage & destroy the flora of Rebun, we have to start something before it's too late. Besides the terms above, please give us information about these example, TRY & RESULT in your county or country. The whole nature on this earth is the treasure to us all.
